Brain Dominance Definition
The brain is a remarkable organ. It is created to be faster and better than any computer, yet we only use a small percentage of its ability throughout our lives.
n 400 BC Hippocrates came to the conclusion that “the brain of man is double.” Today we know that the brain can be divided in a left hemisphere and a right hemisphere. These two parts also have different abilities and different functions.
Whole Brain Thinking
Every hemisphere can be sub-divided “cutting” the brain into 4 quadrants. Each of these quadrants has different abilities and functions. In this manner the brain avoids duplications of function.
There is, however, a tendency for one hemisphere to lead and be dominant. This dominance affects how we respond to new experiences and situations, how we process information and what our personalities are. Armed with this knowledge of how we use our brain, we are better equipped to know what type of working environment will be best suited for us. We will always experience a combination of right- and left hemisphere functions in everything we do, but our thinking pattern is influenced by our dominance.
