DOMINANCE PROFILING

Through our experience in training, GSSRI have come to realize that people learn differently. The reason for this has to do with our Brain Dominance.

Our ability to see information, understand, interpret and analyse it, is influenced by our dominant brain, as well as our dominant senses. The inclusion of the NBI® left /right brain analysis in all our programmes have really placed them above all other courses currently available in the market.

Brain Dominance Definition

The brain is a remarkable organ. It is created to be faster and better than any computer, yet we only use a small percentage of its ability throughout our lives.

The NBI Instruments are a very powerful tool in determining a person’s optimal leadership, creativity, and development profile. On a personal level it equip delegates with knowledge that will help them to understand themselves and others better, and thus enhance their learning experience and personal relationships at work or at home.

n 400 BC Hippocrates came to the conclusion that “the brain of man is double.”  Today we know that the brain can be divided in a left hemisphere and a right hemisphere. These two parts also have different abilities and different functions.

  • The left side is used for processing detailed information. It is also the side we use when we talk, it loves words.
  • The right side is the part that sees the “big picture”. It is the side of the brain that does not understand words, it only understand pictures.

Whole Brain Thinking

Every hemisphere can be sub-divided “cutting” the brain into 4 quadrants. Each of these quadrants has different abilities and functions. In this manner the brain avoids duplications of function.

  • Leadership
  • Decision-making
  • Training
  • Reward/Motivation
  • Marketing
  • Planning
  • Organizing
  • Working Hours
  • Relationships
  • Problem Solving
  • Effectiveness

There is, however, a tendency for one hemisphere to lead and be dominant. This dominance affects how we respond to new experiences and situations, how we process information and what our personalities are. Armed with this knowledge  of how we use our brain, we are better equipped to know what type of working environment will be best suited for us. We will always experience a combination of right- and left hemisphere functions in everything we do, but our thinking pattern is influenced by our dominance.

We are able to tell how a person with a specific dominance will handle different issues in a working environment, such as

  • Management
  • Communication
  • Conflict Handling
  • Pressure Handling
  • Strategizing
  • Risk-Taking
